This tour is for travellers who want the story of the Alhambra without a palace ticket, or who could not get one. From the lower town the group climbs the Cuesta de Gomérez through the Puerta de las Granadas into the Alhambra woods, passing the Torres Bermejas and the Renaissance fountain known as the Pilar de Carlos V.

Inside the walls you walk under the Puerta de la Justicia to the Plaza de los Aljibes, between the Alcazaba and the Palace of Charles V, with one of the best views across to the Albaicín. The guide then covers the outside of the palace, the church of Santa María de la Alhambra and the Parador, built on the former convent of San Francisco. The Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife are not included.
